Dr. Oboler is Professor of Latin American and Latino Studies in the John Jay College of Criminal Justice at the City University of New York and managing editor of the Latino Studies Journal, the premier academic outlet for scholarship dealing with the Latino experience. Dr. Oboler’s lecture will discuss the controversy with terms “Latino” and “Hispanic” and the impact that such abstract language has on everyday affairs.
