Dr. Hunter's four-week summer program provides Illinois State students with an introduction to Brazillian culture and hands-on training in qualitative research.
This program is a part of a student exchange program between Illinois State University (ISU) and the Universidade de Caxias do Sul (UCS). Through this program, students from ISU and USC enroll as international students but pay the local tuition rate of their home university.
Students enrolled in Dr. Hunter's field school will travel to Brazil and take two courses (taught in English) on the campus of USC. Students will also meet with English-speaking Brazilian students to complete their guided ethnographic projects.
The program includes excursions to the region's key historic sites, cultural programs, and a three day stay in Rio de Janeiro.
No language requirement
To Be Determined
Students will earn credit for IDS 133 (Outer Core Social Science) and ANT 383: Selected Cultures. ANT 383 can be used by all anthropology majors and minors for their degree and for all other students as a general elective.
