The Latin American and Latino Studies Program is proud to support and sponsor the following community groups and projects in the Normal/Bloomington community.
We are making history in Normal/Bloomington as very soon we will have the first Spanish speaking radio show in the community. Dilo En Espanol (Say in Spanish) will air on WJBC 1230 Sundays at 8:00 p.m.
Ingrid Ramirez, State Farm, will be hosting, Dilo en español (Say it in Spanish), the first broadcast in Spanish (WJBC) in McLean County. The first show will air on Sunday, September 27th, at 8:00 on WJBC 1230. The show will be every Sunday at 8p.m. unless there is a football game.
The program will consist of local news to the Spanish speaking audience, addressing issues of culture, politics, and history. The program also aims to offer valuable information available for those who don’t speak English. The first program includes interviews with, Alex Cardona, Hispanic Families Work Group, and Prof. Maura I. Toro-Morn, Director of Latin American and Latino Studies program at Illinois State University.
